French
At St. Thomas’ we believe that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils. It helps them to develop communication skills, including key skills of speaking and listening and extends their knowledge of how language works.
Our school acknowledges that learning is enriched by all pupils, being given an entitlement during the primary phase of their education to early language learning, so that they are encouraged to develop positive attitudes to language learning throughout life.
Years 3 to 6 follow the ‘Language Angels’ Scheme of work which provides a clear programme, with a vast range of resources, assessment tools and activities which allows staff to deliver French effectively.
